As the founder and principal designer of Amorphous Studio, my journey in the realm of design and construction has been one of constant evolution and exploration. It all began with my pursuit of a bachelor's degree in architecture from a revered institution in India, founded by the legendary Balkrishna Doshi, recipient of the prestigious Pritzker Prize. Armed with this foundational education, I embarked on a career as a licensed architect in India, where I honed my skills and crafted my design philosophy.

However, it was my transition to the United States that truly shaped my trajectory. Working alongside renowned architectural practices in Connecticut and Los Angeles exposed me to the intricacies of the construction process and ignited a newfound passion within me. The experience of seeing designs come to life on construction sites sparked an undeniable yearning within me—a yearning to not only conceive designs but to actively participate in their realization.

Driven by this newfound passion, I made a bold decision to pivot from architecture to construction. Building my own house became a pivotal moment, where the satisfaction and excitement of seeing my vision materialize fueled my determination. Thus, I redirected my focus and pursued licensure as a general contractor in the State of California. This transition, while unconventional, empowered me to offer clients a holistic approach to their projects, seamlessly integrating design and construction expertise.

What sets me apart in the industry is my unique blend of formal architectural training and hands-on construction experience. With a comprehensive understanding of both disciplines, I bring a versatile vision to every project—a 360-degree view that encompasses structural integrity, energy efficiency, construction means and methods, and ultimately, cost and time management. My ability to navigate seamlessly between the worlds of design and construction allows me to offer clients a singular and holistic experience, where their aspirations are translated into tangible, sustainable spaces that stand the test of time.

Ronnie Gor was presented with a challenge to remodel and add to our 60-year-old house, to work within a budget, to seamlessly incorporate the old with the new, and create a timeless structure. In us, she also faced opinionated and critical clients. Adding to an existing structure presents challenges greater than when starting with a blank slate. The challenge was met, creative solutions were found and the result is outstanding.
